Overview

The Digital UX/UI Designer will help Community Transit make travel easy for all by designing new digital experiences and improving existing ones. He/she assesses and optimizes the performance of new and existing features by actively conducting user research and analyzing performance metrics. The UX/UI Designer develops high level, detailed storyboards, mock-ups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas. He/she presents their work to multiple teams and senior leadership for review and feedback. The UX/UI Designer is an expert in all areas of user experience design which includes information architecture, interaction design, visual design, prototype engineering, content layout and user experience.

 

The Digital UX/UI Designer is an active member of the Digital Scrum Team who adds business value by advocating for design solutions influenced by business and end user goals. He/she augments analytics provided by the Digital Data Analyst with user research, to generate meaningful insights that drive creative concepts. The Digital UX/UI Designer partners with the Digital Business Analyst to create clarity around business objectives through user-centered design. He/she translates business and user needs and technology constraints into solution concepts that are meaningful, easy to use, and engaging. The Digital UX/UI Designer reports to the Digital Product Owner and delivers work that’s user-friendly and aesthetically engaging which produces results.

Essential Duties

  1. Create prototypes and wireframes that combine UX/UI thinking with design execution, to produce usable and intuitive user interfaces.
  2. Design and prototype solutions for the desktop and mobile web. Communicate design solutions to developers and stakeholders.
  3. Translate business and user needs into solution concepts that are meaningful, easy to use and engaging.
  4. Plan and conduct user research and competitor analysis. Work closely with the product team to identify research questions.
  5. Design journey maps, navigation design, sitemaps, information architecture, wireframes, storyboards and prototypes.
  6. Conduct usability testing. Plan and run user tests and other UX/UI design research to inform design decisions.
  7. Interpret data and qualitative feedback. Present and communicate insights in order to support the Digital Strategy.
  8. Work within brand guidelines to create layouts that reinforce the style and voice of Community Transit.
  9. Facilitate workshops that address critical business questions through design thinking, rapid prototyping, and customer testing.
  10. Ensure visual cohesion across all digital touchpoints by creating and maintaining detailed user-interface specifications.

 

 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in  Interaction Design, User Experience Design, or equivalent design-related field
  2. Three (3) years’ professional expertise as a UX/UI designer

Or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

 

Preferred

  1. Experience with FIGMA
  2. Exposure to Agile/Scrum Methodology
  3. Understanding of the transportation industry

Qualification to fulfill the full range of this position’s duties requires the following knowledge, which may be gained or further developed after entering the job:

  1. Understanding of the Community Transit Digital Strategy and three-year digital roadmap
  2. Knowledge of the agencies digital KPI’s and progress towards meeting goals and objectives

  1. Collaboration with cross-functional partners in a matrix organization

 

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
