Overview

Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical accounting duties in support of the Agency's accounts receivable, and other division functions; participates in coordinating assigned programs, projects and services with other agency departments and outside agencies; prepares a variety of reports, notices, and maintains records of account activity; provides departmental information and assistance to Agency staff.

Essential Duties

  1. Responsible for the accounting of Swift ticket vending machines (TVM) activities.
  2. Controls and maintains inventory of fare media.  Performs monthly physical inventory, monitors inventory levels, compile’s inventory and shred reports, and reconciles inventory discrepancies.  Performs periodic audits of retail outlets to ensure they are in compliance with Community Transit's procedures.
  3. Oversees coordination of vault room activities and scheduling employees.  Prepares and analyzes reports.
  4. Assists with annual state audit and responds to various questions and concerns from the auditor.
  5. Prepares revenue information and product analysis reports.  Prepares aged receivable report and investigates and resolves outstanding balances.
  6. Prepares and generates invoices into financial system following contractual requirements.
  7. Prepares and inputs deposits into financial system.
  8. Responds to customer inquiries and analyzes discrepancies in accounts receivable work groups.
  9. Prepares various reconciliations and daily banking reporting. Performs miscellaneous accounts receivable tasks.
  10. Safely performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Associate degree (AS or AA) or a two-year technical certificate in accounting or similar field, may be substituted for two years of experience.
  2. Two years of general ledger experience.
  3. Two years’ experience developing Excel spreadsheets.
  4. Two years’ experience using automated accounting systems (preferably PeopleSoft).
  5. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above may be considered.

Entry Requirements for: Knowledge and Skills

 

Qualification to enter this position requires knowledge of the following:

  1. Accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  2. Generally accepted accounting principles.

  1. Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  9. Plan and prioritize daily work activities and meet strict deadlines.
  10. Learn new assignments quickly.

Physical Requirements

Balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing/listening, seeing/observing, repetitive motions, carrying.

 

Incumbent will be required to work in a cash vault room up to three days per week, for approximately two hours each day. This requires lifting 30-pound fare boxes and coin bags.

 

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
