Overview

The Field Marketing & Business Development Specialist administers field marketing, business development and education programs in workplace, school and residential settings to reduce single-occupant vehicle trips, with an emphasis on Community Transit services as a key component.

Essential Duties

Develops, implements and owns business, employer and residential programs for Community Transit, including lead generation, relationship-building, partner acquisition, and field marketing. Works with businesses, jurisdictions, residential communities and area employers to influence behavioral change and increase ridership their thorough knowledge and understanding of Community Transit’s products and services, transportation demand management and commute reduction techniques, and business development and field marketing tactics to influence behavioral change and increase ridership.
Identifies, establishes and manages relationships with key decision-makers in organizations on prospect list using online research, internal data and developing contacts through calling, social media and on-site visits.
Manages the development of a variety of marketing materials for employer, residential and community business development programs.
Provides personalized assistance to employers to design, implement and evaluate employer-sponsored trip reduction programs, advising on appropriate Transit Demand Management strategies to reduce single-occupant vehicle commuting.
Develops and delivers presentations to business and residential communities to promote Community Transit partnerships and services. Organizes and works table-top events at employers, residential properties, community groups & events.
Acts as first point of contact for assigned employers, business, residential and community partners—answering questions, fulfilling requests and raising larger issues to management team.
Manages contracts, requirements and reporting for employer and residential programs with grant funding. Works with local jurisdictions, county, and state entities to ensure all requirements, deadlines and reporting obligations are met.
Plans large-scale Agency events, including vendor management, budgeting, site planning, resource allocation, internal/external coordination, and event timelines.
Supports Field Marketing activities and works events as needed.
Helps support the Marketing team as a whole and contributes to Marketing-wide efforts as needed; performs other Marketing duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Marketing, Communications, or Business discipline, or the equivalent in education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in field marketing, outreach, sales or business development role
    • Or the equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and extended hours as required
  • Valid driver’s license

 

Preferred

  • Experience with executing an integrated multi-touch field marketing and/or business development program, including lead generation
    Understanding of the psychology of behavior change and effective strategies to influence and foster behavior change
  • Experience in project management, including developing project plans, maintaining timelines and budgets, overseeing project details
  • Experience in event planning
  • Knowledge of transit industry and/or Transportation Demand Management techniques

  • Planning and coordinating special events
  • Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation

 

Qualification to enter this position requires skill in:

  • Communication and interpersonal relations as applied in interactions with peers, subordinates, teams/employees, supervisor, the general public, Board members and others
  • Preparing presentations, public speaking and presenting information to small and large groups, employee groups, management, the Board, elected officials and the community
  • Implementing field marketing and business development goals and strategies
  • Project management to include maintaining timelines and attending to project details
  • Effective time management
  • Event planning, including coordinating vendors, venues, security, budget, staff and resources
  • Developing and maintaining communication with potential partners and professional communication networks
  • Engaging clients through multiple channels
  • Working in a cross-cultural setting and in an environment of constant change
