Reporting to the Director of Customer Experience, the Senior Marketing Manager translates the Agency’s strategic mission and goals into agency-wide marketing strategy to support the overall business.  This role will optimize performance against a clear set of goals to drive revenue, attract new customers and build awareness of Community Transit services and programs. The Senior Marketing Manager owns the vision, strategy, budget and execution for all marketing initiatives.

The Senior Marketing Manager owns the strategic planning process, develops programs, plans and solutions while providing leadership and direction to ensure a successful Marketing program.

This position provides principal leadership and management for all the key areas of Marketing including Marketing Strategy, Creative Services with internal and external facing content,

Essential Duties

  1. Plans, organizes, staffs, directs, coordinates, oversees, evaluates, and trains assigned staff.
  2. Leads annual strategic planning process as well as any strategic projects that are marketing related.
  3. Provides oversight and direction of the brand strategy and product positioning for Community Transits services.
  4. Works directly with Executive Team to translate corporate vision and strategy into actionable marketing initiatives. Manages the Agency’s overall marketing strategy.
  5. Develops and administers division budget and business plan. Oversees allocation and expenditure of budgeted funds.
  6. Leads grant contract negotiation and implementation for Marketing Programs.
  7. Oversees vendor management and contracts for Marketing Programs.
  8. Provides oversight and manages market research projects to gain consumer insights for marketing initiatives.
  9. Liaisons with partner public transportation agencies on regional promotional, advertising, marketing, and outreach programs and projects to ensure agreed-upon goals and objectives are met.
  10. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as required.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. 8 years’ experience with demonstrated success at creating innovative and effective marketing campaigns and brand strategies.
  2. 5 years managing and delivering departmental budget and marketing goals.
  3. 3 years’ experience in a position of influence in an organization.
  4. 5 years in a leadership role supervising others at a medium size (500+ employees) organization. 
  5. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business or other related field.


  6. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job (8 year minimum).

Qualification to enter this position requires skill in:

  2. Influencing work across the organization through credibility as a communicator, ability to think logically, reason and analyze problems and identify logical solutions.
  3. Preparing presentations, public speaking and presenting information to small and large groups, employee groups, management, the Board, elected officials and the community including diverse audiences.
  4. Creating strategic marketing strategies and roadmap aligned to agency goals.
  5. Identifying marketing trends and establishing brand identity.
  6. Monitoring and evaluating staff.
  7. Inspiring and leading large teams where continuous improvement is critical.
  8. Prioritizing goals, programs and projects.
  9. Developing and administering budgets.


Physical Requirements

  • Reaching, grasping, talking, hearing and seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.



Incumbents may be subjected to travel.
