Essential Duties

Position Responsibilities



  • Develops lead and lag key performance indicators that provide actionable insights to improve performance and assess success of initiatives.

  • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains a variety of data exploration, data wrangling, and data visualization dashboards using Tableau.

  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis and research to evaluate and report transit system performance.

  • Delivers engaging presentations using a storytelling approach and PowerPoint best practices.

  • Enables, supports, and encourages use of data and analysis in support of decision-making.

  • Collects, organizes, and maintains datasets in relational databases (MS SQL Server, Snowflake).

  • Effectively manages and tracks timelines, requirements, and deliverables of assigned work.

  • Ensures work efforts and products are in alignment with industry best practices and agency documented standards.

  • Collaborates, supports, and actively engages with Research & Analytics team members and internal and external partners.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications


Education & Experience



  • A bachelor’s degree in statistics, computer science, psychology, marketing, mathematics, planning, engineering, or similar field.

  • At least two years' of progressively responsible experience managing and querying data in a relational database environment (e.g., Snowflake, MS SQL Server, Oracle etc.).

  • At least two years’ of experience in applying quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis and research in support of decision-making.

  • At least two years’ of experience in data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Microsoft Power BI etc.).

  • At least one year of experience applying statistical analysis (e.g., Chi-squared, Regression, Cluster analysis, forecasting, etc.)

  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.


Skills



  • Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data (e.g., survey, focus group, etc.) to provide actionable recommendations.

  • Developing dynamic data visualizations (e.g., Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, etc.).

  • Writing scripts to extract, transform, clean, load, and analyze data (e.g., R, Python, etc.).

  • Writing SQL stored procedures, functions, views, and queries.

  • Ensuring that data, analysis, and research are organized, documented, and communicated in a way that they can be understood, interpreted, and acted upon effectively.

  • Communicating complex technical information effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication skills including public speaking. Adapting communication style to various audiences.

  • Working as a team: encouraging, communicative, supporting, contributing, and enthusiastic.

  • Gaining the support of others through persuasiveness, credibility, and expertise.

  • Managing assigned work by setting clear, reasonable expectations, and facilitating delivery and achievement of those expectations.

  • Using intelligence, logical thinking, common sense, hard work and tenacity to solve difficult and complex challenges.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in quantitative analysis of transit, financial, and/or survey data.

  • Experience in Python and/or R.

  • Experience designing forecasting models and cluster analyses.

  • Experience with ESRI software, including basic geospatial analysis and the development of dynamic story maps.

  • Knowledge of transit planning, marketing, and operation principles.

  • Knowledge of public transit reporting requirements (e.g. Title VI, NTD, etc.).

  • Knowledge of alternative / innovative transportation strategies.

  • Experience in leading teams or projects and applying project management methods and techniques.


Physical Requirements


Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

  • Requires travel less than 10% of the time.
