Overview

Community Transit, the local public transportation provider in Snohomish County, is seeking a Creative & Brand Manager in the Marketing Division. You’ll lead a talented group of in-house creative professionals and oversee the development of concepts, designs, and visual communication deliverables for our brand, products, marketing campaigns, digital initiatives, and content strategies.

Essential Duties

  • Lead and inspire a team of creative professionals to achieve their best performance.  Build and maintain a positive and productive team culture.  Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.  Prioritize and assign work.  Ensure staff are trained and encourage professional development and continuous learning.  Make hiring, disciplinary, and termination recommendations.  Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all staff programs and activities. 
  • Assign and manage the creative production process, priorities, and project schedules.  Collaborate with and provide overall strategic direction to the designers and copywriters ensuring high quality work.  Seek feedback from customers external to projects.  Test materials in a live environment. 
  • Oversee artistic and creative direction for the agency.  Lead team development of appropriately branded conceptual ideas, artwork, and messaging, with creative oversight of deliverables.  Ensure brand standards and brand integrity are maintained in the development of work projects.
  • Direct, plan, and organize projects involving creative media functions, copywriting, scriptwriting, promotional writing, storyboarding, producing, directing, and planning of digital animation, audio, photography, and video, including video and photo shoots.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in strategic creative projects.  Lead the team in transforming marketing strategies and messaging into impactful visual communications that engage target audiences and attract potential customers.  Oversee the development of processes that track and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). 
  • Manage the creative work plan and budget.  Review project requests to fully utilize internal resources as well as external resources when necessary.  Develop scope of work.  Participate in and oversee timeline, selection and hiring of consultants and/or contracted services.  Review and approve work.
  • Supervise staff.  Prioritize and assign work, conduct performance evaluations, make hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations, ensure staff is trained, and offer professional development opportunities.  Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in all staff programs and activities. 
  • Establish strong relationships and communication paths with stakeholders on creative projects and potential impacts.  Oversee team’s creative project schedules with other departments to ensure mutual deadlines are met and to minimize conflicting resource needs.  Balance client, customer, and stakeholder needs and requirements with the agency’s strategic objectives.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8years of increasingly responsible experience in graphic design, brand oversight, and creative development.  An associate degree in Graphic Design or a related field may account for 1.5 years of experience.  A bachelor’s degree in a closely related field will count for 3 years of experience.  A master’s degree in a related field may substitute for 4 years of experience. 
  • 3 years of direct experience supervising a team.
  • 4 years of creative project management experience, including overseeing overlapping projects and competing priorities, managing resources, and delegating responsibilities.

An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties is also accepted.

 

Knowledge Requirements

  • Creative concept, design, and copywriting best practices.
  • Marketing and communications concepts, practices, techniques, and tools.
  • Print industry proofing methods and different printing techniques.
  • Production techniques and best practices for web, video, audio, radio, and television.
  • Supervisory concepts, team dynamics, and best practices for managing contractors and vendors.
  • Project management.
  • Concepts and techniques for preparing and presenting written and oral information.
  • Customer service best practices.
  • Methods and techniques of data collection, research, and report preparation.
  • Office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers and software applications.

  • Creating and delivering dynamic presentations through excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • 10 years of creative and brand experience in an advertising agency or in-house corporate environment.
  • 5 years of experience supervising a team.
  • Experience in promotional writing, storyboarding, scriptwriting, video, and audio production.
  • Experience at a public agency or within the transit industry

 

Working Conditions

 

Hybrid telework may be available.  Availability is at management discretion and may not be available for this position based on the nature of the work.  Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of office equipment and technology.  You will be required to move throughout and between different office buildings and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments.  You may also be required to lift and carry materials up to 10 pounds occasionally.
