In this role, you’ll partner with stakeholders across the agency to translate business goals into clear, actionable technology solutions that improve how we serve our employees, partners, and the community.

Why Community Transit?

At Community Transit, the work we do matters. The systems and tools we implement help support reliable public transportation for thousands of people across Snohomish County. You’ll join a collaborative, mission-driven organization where technology enables our teams to better serve riders, employees, and the community. You’ll work on meaningful projects, partner with passionate colleagues, and contribute to solutions that improve how public transit operates.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll serve as a bridge between business stakeholders and IT teams, helping ensure that technology solutions align with agency priorities and deliver real value.

You will:

  • Directly address root business problems and align with organizational goals.
  • Partner with business units to translate goals and product roadmaps into clear technical and functional requirements.
  • Gather, document, and prioritize business and system requirements using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and perform gap analysis to compare business needs with current system capabilities.
  • Define the specific capabilities, user interactions, and calculations required for a solution.
  • Determine if a proposed solution is practical and provides enough value to justify its cost.
  • Develop functional and non-functional requirements that guide solutions and implementation.
  • Create solution acceptance criteria and support quality assurance and user acceptance testing.
  • Research and recommend technology solutions based on documented requirements.
  • Collaborate across departments to analyze complex business and technical challenges and support implementation of effective solutions.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

Successful IT Business Analysts at Community Transit are curious problem-solvers and trusted partners to both business and technical teams.

In this role, success means:

  • Stakeholders feel heard, supported, and confident that their needs are clearly understood and translated into effective solutions.
  • Technology initiatives are grounded in well-defined requirements and aligned with agency goals.
  • Projects move forward with clarity, reducing risk and improving outcomes for both users and IT teams.
  • New systems and tools are implemented smoothly and deliver measurable improvements to how we work.

If you enjoy bringing clarity to complexity, collaborating across teams, and helping mission-driven organizations make smarter technology decisions, we encourage you to apply and be part of the work that helps our community get from where they are to where they want to be.
