Overview

Term Limited - End date is 1 year from start date

Works with AP/AR/GL, Payroll, and Employee Engagement (HR) to prepare and reconcile all quarterly federal, state, payroll tax payments as well as completing monthly employee benefit reconciliations.  Investigate and correct all benefit discrepancies.  Serves as a backup to our HRIS Functional Analyst for Human Capital Management (HCM) and UKG timekeeping software. Assists Payroll team as needed. Assists with annual state and federal audit requests.

Essential Duties

  • Reconciles and analyzes monthly employee benefit payments to the general ledger for all benefit types.
  • Prepares and maintains accounts receivable entries for all delinquent employee benefit deductions.  Process write-offs as required
  • Serves as a backup to our PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) and UKG timekeeping software functional analyst.
  • Prepares and reconciles all quarterly federal, state, and self-managed quarterly payroll tax payments. Submits payment vouchers to Accounts Payable upon reconciliation. 
  • Provides surge support to bi-weekly payroll process
  • Supports the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Also prepares supporting documentation and notes.  Researches and explains any variation from prior period.
  • Works with State audit staff on annual audit.  Responds to questions and concerns about internal controls, variances, and accounting procedures.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level, as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience completing benefit reconciliations and performing general accounting activities. A 2 year technical certificate in accounting or related field may substitute for 1.5 years of experience. A bachelor's degree in accounting or related field may substitute for 3 years of experience.
  • 2 years of functional analyst support to a complex HCM / payroll software. Preferably PeopleSoft HCM and UKG timekeeping systems – or an equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience using automated accounting systems.

 An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties is also accepted.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Accounts payable, and general ledger.
  • Generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Benefit reconciliation knowledge and experience.

Working Conditions

100% of your work will be performed in an office environment and requires you to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. You will be required to move throughout and between different office buildings and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments. Hybrid telework is available for most administrative personnel. Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to a negligible number of forces constantly to move objects.

Incumbent may be required to work in a cash vault room. This requires lifting 30 pound coin bags and fare boxes.
