Do you care about reducing pollution and road congestion in your community? At Community Transit, we're looking for a Marketing Program Strategist to help grow our employer-focused programs. In this role, you'll join our marketing programs team and partner with businesses to reduce the drive-alone rate of their employees. 

 

What's the Role?

As a marketing program strategist, you'll partner with employers and businesses to encourage and incentivize workers to use transit for commuting to work and everyday travel. Programs include Commute Trip Reduction (CTR), ORCA for Business programs, and new programs to engage a diverse range of businesses and workers throughout our community.

 

You’ll have the opportunity to use transportation demand management (TDM) strategies to educate people, inspire behavior change, and make a difference in your community.

 

Examples of projects you’ll work on:

  • Engage major employers, helping them establish and achieve goals to reduce drive-alone trips to their worksites by employees.
  • Research employers affected by Washington’s Commute Trip Reduction program and help bring them into compliance with state and local requirements.
  • Design and own a small and medium size business outreach initiative that incentivizes businesses to promote sustainable commuting to their workers.
  • Help design and pilot a new program to evaluate and celebrate employers who implement effective commute trip reduction programs for their worksites.

Essential Duties

As Employer Marketing Strategist, you will support the success and growth Community Transit’s marketing programs for employers and businesses.  You will work with internal and external partners to create innovative strategies that inform and engage target audiences.  You will partner with employers and businesses to encourage and incentivize workers to use transit for commuting and everyday travel. You will also lead Community Transit’s Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) and ORCA for Business programs.

 

  • Create informative, inclusive, and engaging program content and strategies.  Promote the Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) and ORCA Business Accounts programs by using business development techniques such as research, networking, calling, and on-site visits. 
  • Create project management plans, timelines, task lists, budgets, and other documentation to ensure projects are tracked and delivered successfully.
  • Negotiate contracts, grants, and incentives for TDM programs.   Ensure strategies and program activities are in alignment with Community Transit’s goals and values and are compliant with state and local regulations and grant funding requirements.
  • Set, track, and report on the program’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement.  Integrate industry best practices and your creative innovations.
  • Build and maintain relationships internally, across Community Transit departments, and externally with employers.  Collaborate with these partners to develop the CTR program, goals, and jurisdictional CTR plans.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on program marketing and ridership.  Negotiate contracts, grants, and incentives for programs.  Offer insight to stakeholders, as requested.  Lead and contribute to cross-functional project teams.
  • Assist the broader marketing team with projects and events, as needed.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience working in or related to one of the following areas:
  • Business-to-business sales (B2B, B2B2C)
  • Business development
  • Commute trip reduction (CTR)
  • Transportation demand management (TDM)
  • Sales or account management
  • Marketing
  • 1 year of experience using Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems such as Salesforce.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties is also accepted.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, public administration, urban planning, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Smartsheet or similar cloud-based project management and collaboration tools.
  • Experience applying Transportation Demand Management (TDM) strategies.
  • Familiarity with Community Transit and transit industry products, services, networks, agencies, and issues.
  • Fluency in another language in addition to English.

 

 

Working Conditions

Hybrid telework may be available.  Availability is at management discretion and may not be available for this position based on the nature of the work.  Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of office equipment and technology.  You will be required to move throughout and between different office buildings and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments.  You may also be required to lift and carry materials up to 10 pounds occasionally. 

20-30% of your work will be external, at area employers or partnered community organizations.  This will require you to move between different building locations, in varying weather conditions.
