As a Maintenance Instructor, you will develop, research, and conduct training for new and existing employees. This includes skills development, procedural instruction, safety, and required training. You will write new curriculum and modify current curriculum, train mechanics on new equipment, and maintain records of training and instructional resources. You will also monitor the effectiveness of the training programs. Your primary responsibility will be instruction for maintenance crafts and coordinating craft apprenticeship programs.
Research training subjects to develop course goals and objectives. Develop curriculum and conduct classes to meet learning objectives. Includes preparing hands-on and oral tests as appropriate.
Maintain and organize course content, instructional materials, and training aids. Prepare and maintain related reports.
Coordinate technical training provided by vendors, schools, and other instructors with the Assistant Manager of Instruction – Maintenance or designee. Evaluate and recommend purchase of training aids, materials, or programs.
Train employees on procedures of their assigned department and required training. Includes scheduling training, arranging facilities, hands-on maintenance demonstrations, and operating vehicles.
Develop and conduct safety training and safety-related activities. Assist in developing the industrial safety program.
Develop and monitor apprenticeship programs, as assigned.
Design methods to review and evaluate training programs for effectiveness. Develop methods for improvement in training, procedures, or equipment.
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Working Conditions |
Your work will be performed in an office, classroom, outdoors or in a shop environment with exposure to noise, grease, dirt, and fumes. You may be required to wear a respirator or other personal protective equipment and clothing. You will be required to move throughout and between different buildings and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments. You will be required to lift and carry training materials and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds. Conducting presentations may require standing and walking for sustained periods.
