As the Assistant Manager of Analytics, you will manage a team of analysts who use data to identify, calculate, and communicate key performance indicators, trends, forecasts, and business opportunities.  You will be responsible for successfully executing daily operations, providing quality assurance controls, and maintaining the team’s excellent level of service to both internal and external clients.

Essential Duties

  • Manage the quality assurance process to provide high quality, consistent, accurate, and valid data products.  Direct and oversee the preparation of reports and information for decision making.  Ensure that data handling and analysis comply with internal procedures, ethical standards, and data privacy regulations.  Troubleshoot data processes, identify errors, and work with information technology to find resolutions.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology to deliver data and analytics solutions to customers.  Utilize data collection methodologies, data engineering, and the agency data warehouse.  Assess and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance the team's capabilities and efficiency.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and impact of initiatives.  Utilize data analysis and business intelligence tools to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform decision-making and strategy.  Use data to make predictions and forecasts to help the agency plan for the future.  Provide internal and external customers relevant information and data to support their business goals.  Provide contract compliance reporting for federal, state, grant, and contracted service requirements. 
  • Supervise staff.  Prioritize and assign work, conduct performance evaluations, make hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations, ensure staff is trained, and offer professional development opportunities.  Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion values in all staff programs and activities. 
  • Effectively communicate data insights and findings to non-technical stakeholders, helping them understand and act on the information.  Enable, support, and encourage the use of data in decision-making. 
  • Assist with developing data-related policies and procedures to ensure data governance, team efficiency, and an excellent level of service.  Collaborate with managers and directors to align data initiatives with the agency’s overall strategic goals. 
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in data management and analysis.  This includes designing and managing relational database environments, using advanced data analysis tools, applying statistical methodologies, interpreting business questions into analyses, and communicating analytical findings to a diverse audience. bachelor’s degree in statistics, computer science, mathematics, may account for 3 years of experience.
  • 3 years of experience managing teams to deliver data-based solutions.

An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties is also accepted.

  • Awareness of ethical considerations related to data privacy, security, and bias.

  • Federal, state, and other contractual requirements.
  • Transportation industry practices and transit operations.

Working Conditions

 

Hybrid telework may be available.  Availability is at management discretion and may not be available for this position based on the nature of the work.  Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of office equipment and technology.  You may also be required to lift and carry materials up to 20 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently.  While performing fieldwork, you may also be exposed to automotive fumes, odors, and dust, and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments and varying weather conditions.
