Overview

As an External Communications Strategist, you will plan and execute external communication strategies.
You will help produce engaging content that informs the public and promotes Community Transit’s brand, services, initiatives, and contributions to Snohomish County.

Essential Duties

  • Work in a team environment to translate the business plan into external communication strategies.  Assist with strategy planning and content development. 
  • Develop clear, easily understood content.  Create external communications in the form of social media and website posts, fact sheets, brochures, and multimedia (photo, video, and audio) content.
  • Work cross-functionally to offer expertise to senior management and other internal partners.  Edit, review, and provide recommendations on content, as needed.
  • Represent the communications department and Community Transit in meetings, public forums, and other events
  • Monitor and report on goals and key performance indicators.  Partner with colleagues to develop and implement processes for tracking and monitoring external engagement and use this data to improve communication strategies.
  • Assist with managing the external communications work plan and budget.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English, marketing, or a related
    field.
  • 4 years of experience writing fact sheets and brochures, engaging social media posts, and other
    modes of external-facing communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and/or other writing tools

An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties is also accepted.

 

Knowledge Requirements

  • Public relations or engaging writing techniques for external audiences.
  • Incorporating equity and inclusion into communication practices.
  • Leveraging various communication channels and tools to engage with target audiences.
  • Using data and metrics to identify areas of opportunity and assess the effectiveness of
    communication efforts.
  • Using a variety of writing styles, such as Associate Press style.
  • Spelling, punctuation, and grammar rules.

Working Conditions

 

Hybrid telework may be available at management. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of office equipment and technology. You will be required to move throughout and between different office buildings and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments. You may also be required to lift and carry materials up to 10 pounds occasionally.
