Overview

*This is an internship opportunity. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at a place of higher learning (university, community college, vocational school).*

 

As a Marketing Intern, you will work to equally support the Marketing Programs and the Integrated Marketing teams. Interns will perform various administrative and outreach event duties and help develop content to support marketing goals. This part time internship requires working on site in our South Everett office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Interns will work 15-20 hours per week. There is opportunity to work additional hours by supporting evening and weekend field marketing events. Interns must be available to work at Community Transit’s 50th Anniversary event on Sunday, August 16, 2026. This is an ideal internship for students interested in marketing, content creation, community engagement, and importantly, a career in public transportation.

Essential Duties

  • Support and attend field marketing events and projects, including presentations to community-based organizations and larger community events. This includes occasional evening and weekend shifts which will be scheduled in advance and agreed upon. This also includes event preparation, developing summaries of outreach events, ORCA card reporting, highlighting customer feedback for stakeholders, etc.
  • Support the Integrated Marketing team’s organic social channel, with a primary focus on content creation for TikTok.
  • Pitch content ideas with proposed storyboards and scripts for approval.
  • Create high-quality and engaging content, ready for platform publishing (all-inclusive of asset deliverables – video, photo, on-screen graphics, captioning, alt-tags, and post text).
  • Monitor post metrics and provide reporting.
  • Professional development: Attend meetings across departments. Shadow different roles. Spend time learning about careers in public transit.
  • Support the Communications, Marketing, and Engagement Department with various tasks, working across divisions to support department goals and needs as priorities emerge.
  • Intern Project: Work independently on a project of your choosing. Create a deliverable for this project that will be presented to the department at the end of the of the internship. This project will be approved of and vetted by managers prior to department presentations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at a place of higher learning (university, community college, vocational school).

An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties is also accepted.

 

Schedule Requirements:

  • 15-20 hours per week from June through August/September. Duration may vary based on intern school schedule and Community Transit needs.
  • Must be available to work in office, located in South Everett, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from approximately 8 am to 4 pm.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed, per advance notification.

 

Knowledge Requirements

  • General computer knowledge (including a basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite) and ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Effective communication knowledge, both verbally and in writing, typically associated with a High School Diploma or GED.

Working Conditions

Most of your work will be performed in an office environment and requires you to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. You may be required to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. You will be required to move throughout and between different office buildings. Given the nature of this job, you may also be exposed to automotive fumes, odors, and dust and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments. Approximately 20% of your work will be performed in a public setting, such as festivals, community events, presentations to youth audiences, etc.
