Overview

As Manager of Operations Support, you will oversee the administrative and analytical functions of the Transportation department. You will manage, plan, organize, and evaluate the personnel, financial, risk, safety, training, and business analysis areas of the department. You will advise the Sr. Director and other managers, supervise staff, and review and take appropriate action regarding transit administrative issues.

Essential Duties

  • Supervise staff, prioritizing and assigning work. Set goals and evaluate performance, providing timely and appropriate feedback, coaching, and recognition. Make hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Train staff and offer professional development opportunities. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all staff programs and activities.
  • Manage, plan, organize, and coordinate the administrative functions of the department, including personnel management, purchasing, risk and safety, inventory control, and records management. Ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State regulations. Administer labor agreements and work with the Labor Relations team to document decisions and develop recommended agreements
  • Advise the Sr. Director on administrative issues within the division. Recommend courses of action that impact human resources, finance, risk management, and training management. Manage policy development, adherence, communication, and maintenance.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of risk management programs for the Division. Prepare statistical analysis reports of department functions and recommend actions to improve performance.
  • Manage the process of ensuring transit operators are properly trained and evaluated.
  • Assure the preparation and maintenance of records, reports, summaries, and statistics related to personnel, budget, and program activities.
  • Participate in developing the department budget to achieve Agency objectives. Manage the budget and monitor expenditures.
  • Supervise efforts to collect, organize, maintain, and present data, including designing data tables, applying data validation, and implementing procedures to support data needs. Assess data for accuracy, anomalies, and completeness. As issues arise, determine and implement a solution.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of administrative experience, with at least 2 years at a supervisory or project management level.
  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, transportation, statistical analysis, or a related field is highly desired and may substitute for 3 years of the experience requirement.

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties is also accepted.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of office equipment and technology. You will be required to move throughout and between different office buildings and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments. You may also be required to lift and carry materials up to 10 pounds occasionally.
